Call for Postdoctoral Fellows

๐Ÿ“ข The Rice Sustainability Institute (SI) is now accepting applications for its two-year postdoctoral research fellowships in sustainability solutions. We invite proposals from scholars with independent research ideas that advance transformative, interdisciplinary approaches to pressing environmental, energy, and climate challenges.

๐ŸŒฑ Fellows will be embedded in the vibrant SI research community and will engage in cross-campus collaborations with leading faculty and research centers at Rice University. This opportunity is open to both domestic and international applicants. Fellows must have earned their Ph.D. within three years of the fellowship start date.

๐Ÿ“Œ Eligibility

  • ๐ŸŽ“ Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a field related to sustainability
  • ๐Ÿ“… Within three years of degree conferral by the fellowship start date
  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ Strong record of scholarly productivity and creativity
  • ๐Ÿค Interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary research

๐Ÿ’ผ Fellowship Details

  • โณ Duration: Two years (renewal after year one contingent on satisfactory progress)
  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ Stipend: $70,000/year
  • ๐Ÿ“ฆ Includes benefits, annual research allowance, and relocation support
  • ๐Ÿงญ Professional development in communication, pedagogy, and faculty applications

  1. ๐Ÿ“„ Curriculum Vitae (CV), including list of publications and other authored or creative works
  2. ๐Ÿง  One-page synopsis of your doctoral dissertation
  3. ๐Ÿ”ฌ Three-page research proposal (figures allowed; references excluded)
  4. ๐ŸŒ Collaboration statement describing your approach to interdisciplinary research at Rice, including a prospective advisor team
