Working Groups

We support interdisciplinary faculty-led teams through our rolling call for Sustainability Working Groups. These groups aim to develop research collaborations and pursue funding from various sources, including philanthropic, industrial, and federal.

Sustainability Workshops

Each year, the SI supports faculty-designed Sustainability Workshops that convene researchers around emerging sustainability topics. Workshops build intellectual community and seed future research proposals. The FY25 workshops concluded in Spring 2025, and details on FY26 workshops will be announced soon.

Postdoctoral Scholars Program

The SI Postdoctoral Scholars Program supports early-career researchers pursuing high-impact sustainability research. Postdocs work independently and collaboratively, contributing to the SI’s mission while building their own research portfolios. Mobility Grants: France–U.S. Graduate Student Program

In partnership with Rice Global, the SI offers a Graduate Student Mobility Grant to support research travel to France. This grant is ideal for students preparing to apply for fellowships such as the Chateaubriand Fellowship and emphasizes sustainability-focused research with a French institutional partner.
